Tunnels, Oakfern Territory

Evander Word Count:  610

Urs Word Count:  595

Urs

It was a peaceful evening in the cavern. The air was crisp but not cold, showing signs that winter was on its way. Lucky for the Oakferns though, their Warren never grew too cold. The earth around them kept their homes in a moderate temperature and protected them from the icy world above.

Urs breathed in deeply, taking the clean air into his lungs. A peaceful evening indeed. Closing his eyes, the stag concentrated. His pelt prickling and tingling as he reached out with water magic. He felt the gentle bubbles of water seeping through the walls, the moisture collecting in the moss, the life blood of other fawnlings. This was home, and he would always belong here.

Evander

E bounced around the cavern his father and mother called home, though he took care not to bump into anything. His father was off doing kingly things so he was left alone, well almost alone, his mother sat quietly in her own tiny area. He looked to her briefly but she provided no input on his actions at all. He stopped with a sigh and looked to entrance with longing and wondered what his siblings were doing now.

With another, sly, look at his mother he bolted out into the ‘hall’ and towards the main meeting place of the herd. He was surprised to see that not many were around and certainly none were his siblings. He sighed and his head lowered as he looked around crestfallenly. Until one bay coat seemed familiar, he didn’t remember the name but he had seen the stag taking to his father, hadn’t he? With a bubble of laughter he ran up to the stag and smiled up at him,” Hiya!

Urs

Opening his eyes, the large stag looked down, surprised to find the tiny golden ball of fluff. It only took him a moment to recognize the small colt. Glancing around, Urs saw no sign of escort. “Hello there,” he said with a warm smile. What was this young one doing out alone? If there was one thing in this world he had a serious soft spot for, it was little fawns.. ~You’re as bad as a doe..~ Urs told himself in amusement.

Evander

Suddenly shy, Evander scampered back a bit and looked up at the ‘mountain’ of a stag. The paint around his mouth was a bit scary but E wanted to brave so he put on a tiny smile,” I’m Evander!” He had wanted to sound brave and playful like his sisters always did, but it came out as more a squeak then anything brave. Embarrassed he looked to the ground and kicked a pebble away before looking back at the stag,” What’cha doin?

Urs

Urs did not laugh at the little colt’s squeak, no matter how silly it sounded. “It is a pleasure to meet you Evander, my name is Urs,” the ‘mountain’ stag replied. His ears tilted forward, listening calmly to his question. “I am using my magic to check on the herd. I’m making sure they are all safe,” he added. “And what are you up to little one?

Evander

Urs, it was familiar, if only just so. Magic? Father had told about magic and Evander couldn’t wait until he was three and could start training. Urs got his attention again with a question,” Im havin’ fun!” He had a pleased look on his face, happy to have gotten away from his mother, if only for a moment. As the feeling wore away, his mind went back to magic,” How does it work?

Urs

The captain nodded then glanced at a puddle. “Well, it starts deep down in your body,” he started, willing the water to crawl over the stones. It halted in front of the two fawnlings, laying still. “Water can not be forced to do as you please, it’s a feeling of flow where you and the water work together.” Urs paused and smiled. Evander was still a bit young for this deep of talk.

~Oops. hm..~

With patience and will, it can be used for many things. Galeach has truly blessed us.

The small puddle rose and grew until it formed into a little fawnling, almost as tall as Evander. The water fawn tilted its head and shook its little tail

Evander

Evan tried hard to pay attention, deep down he said? Evander didn’t know exactly what he meant but some times when he was hungry he felt a deep down rumbling. Is that what magic was? did that mean you had to eat something to make the rumbling stop? It seemed possible. When Urs willed the water to move, he thought he felt something, but he was too young to even begin to understand it.

He was so fascinated with the moving water that he hadn’t caught the stags words and as he slowly shaped the water into a fawn Evander squealed in delight. He bounced around it inspecting it,” Is it alive?” Without waiting for an answer he jumped closer and licked the fawns cheek, he was very surprised when he found nothing solid.

Urs

A smile spread across his face as the large stag watched his new little friend. “No, it is only moving as i control it. Once I stop, it turns into water once more.” Urs released his hold, letting the water drop to a puddle before collecting it into a little fawn once more. The creature bounced and wiggled around, walking to stand beside Evander. He controlled the water with ease, only having a few stray droplets slide from its cool liquid hide. It was always a pleasure to play with fawns, showing them the magic of their Moon Father’s gift.

Evander

The colt licked his lips and cocked his head in curiousity, so Urs was controlling it? It didn’t make much sense to the young fawn. As the water fawn ‘melted’ away Evan jumped back in surprise and gasped. Had Urs just… killed it? No, it wasn’t alive, remember? Soon the fawn was back and Evander wriggled with joy and giggles, bouncing happily around it once more.

Urs

The wonder fawns possessed never ceased to amaze Urs. He shifted the water fawn into several different shapes. A mushroom, flying owl, small mice. Each time the water bubbled as it shifted into the forms.

The seconds became minutes as time went on. The Captain was standing beside the King’s fawn, entertaining him as long as the little colt likes.

Evander

He could have played with the water fawn for hours, or that owl, and the mice! Urs was amazing! After a while though the small colts stomach rumbled loudly and he squealed in surprise. He had been so into playing he hadn’t noticed how late it had gotten. With a smack of his lips he looked to Urs,”I’m hungry!” He turned slowly and looked at the many tunnels that lead away from this cavern and became disheartened, which one lead to home? “I… I don’t know home!

Urs

The large stag jumped and ran around with Evander, dodging this way and that as he made the water creatures leap around.
At the rumbling sound, he chuckled. ”Goodness little one!”

He walked over to Evander and smiled. ”Do not worry, I’ll walk you home to your mother.”  Urs gave the fawn a gentle nudge towards the right tunnel. His white paint lit up the darkness as he walked beside the colt.
